Why Mat?

I strongly believe I’m an excellent candidate for the role as my previous experience fits perfectly the web manager role description.  Indeed I held very similar  positions when I contracted for the BBC, the Science Museum and AOL among other.  In all of those roles I acted as the liaison person with higher management, the technical, the content, and creative team.  I was responsible for the successful implementations of web projects with accordance to the strategic direction of the business.  I’ve been responsible for the whole life cycle of the project, from gathering the business requirements to information architecture and to the final implementation.

Project management expertise

As a successful project manager I am responsible for the deliveries of projects on time, within budget and exceeding client expectation, as well as identifying and understanding the
clients’ needs and requirements.  The projects bottom line should always be to add value to the clients business and make a positive impact.    More precisely this mean delivering an end product that is on brief, meets the clients expectations, is user acceptance tested and ideally tested by an independent third-party so it is fit for purpose every time.

Delivery management

As a web manager my key responsibility is to successfully deliver projects within the time, budget, business and technical requirements.  In order to do so I have to take the overall responsibility and understanding of the project.  I have to ensure that each of the project objectives, milestones and deadlines are achieved on time and within budget.  Successful delivery management also include being responsible for quality control.  Day to day, my responsibility is to manage the tasks done by each members of the team and make sure it aligns with the projects requirements.

Budget management

Another key project management element is to take full responsibility for the management, monitoring and control of the budget.  Make sure that all requirements have sufficient allocated resources.  It is also my responsibility to communicate and document all key decisions that might impact the budget.

Client management

As a successful project manager, I was often the main point of contact with the client ensuring they had enough support.  I was responsible for the client relationships and the projects delivery to a successful conclusion.
In some of my positions my client management responsibilities extended to account development as well.  It included the identification, communication and follow up of new business opportunities during  and after successful project conclusion.

Effective meetings

Meetings are an important part of project manager. Therefore I make sure that every one of my meetings offers the most value.  On each one of my projects I was responsible to organize meetings with the various stakeholders.  I  made sure each projects was consistently reviewed and approved.  At the BBC and the Science Museum I chaired regular meetings with representatives from the various role groups including management, consultants and other third parties.  During my meetings I was responsible to advise senior management of the websites progress, availability and return on investments.

Effective Presentations

The last but not least of my project management expertise is the ability to communicate with the clients, the team or other stakeholders in a clear and concise way, a confident approach and very good understanding  of the project.  Deliver effective presentations will have a huge impact on the project (or on potential new business) as it will make the clients feel confident that you may successfully deliver the project and add value to their business.

Technical expertise

I have more than ten years of technical experience mostly web related.   I had the chance to work  alongside the technical team making sure to build sites and applications  with the latest web technologies and respecting standards.   I was also responsible to resolve any technical issues that might arise.  I worked on flash games and e-learning applications with among other the BBC, interactive marketing campaigns  with Double Click  as well as bigger content management portals with AOL.  Moreover working previously as a web developer I have a very good understanding of coding practices and the latest web technologies.  I had the chance to build and customize various CMS solutions, playing around with various social media API’s.

Design expertise

Along my career I worked alongside with some of the most talented creative and usability teams to produce a user friendly experience consistent with the product or business branding.    At Brando, I was responsible for the creation of a custom CMS to accommodate thousands of users.

Content production experience

I work alongside the content producers to make sure we had the most up to date information which have an optimal impact on the user experiences.  I made sure that fresh content was regularly uploaded to the site. At World’s Best Places I was responsible for the content creations of articles on a weekly basis.  As for most of my other  projects such as The Science Museum, CBBC & Cbeebies I worked in collaboration with excellent content producers.

Analytics

Once a project was implement, my role as a technical project manager was to keep track of the site performance by analyzing the monthly activities.  I created some analytics reports after each project launches and made adjustments based on the results.   I had the chance to use numerous Software used including Google Analytics and GetClicky.

Qualifications

To add to my experience I also have a Commerce degree from the John Molson School of Business with a major in Decision Sciences & management of information systems (MIS).  The program consisted of courses on computer hardware and software technology and the development, use and management of Information Systems.

The program consists of courses on computer hardware and software technology, and the development, use and management of Information Systems. It includes project management, telecommunication technology, systems analysis and design methodologies, micro computer technologies and programming languages (VB.Net, C++, Java).
  3. 2002-2003 Certificate in Accounting – HEC Higher Business School (Montreal). The Accounting program consists of financial accounting, management and cost accounting, taxation, business law, accounting theory and accounting information systems.
  4. 1997-1999 International College degree in Art and Science with specialization in cinema – College Stanislas.

As far as my technical skills are concerned I use the Microsoft Office suite on a daily basis and I am especially proficient in PowerPoint.  As mentioned before coming from a web development background I have a good understanding of Internet technologies(HTML, CSS,  JS,  Flash,  PHP, APIS’s), software  tools (Dreamweaver) and Content management system (WordPress).  Finally, in the last couple of years I had a specific interest with internet marketing using Google Adsense and Analytics.  I always make sure the all my web projects are compatible with web standards and best practices.  I also have hands on experience with graphics software especially with flash and fireworks.
